Risk Outlook for Latin America

A number of Latin America’s major economies will be holding elections in 2018. The election calendar is not only busy, but will also mark a shifting political environment in many countries.

Anti-establishment candidates are likely to perform well, as established political players across the continent have been tainted by corruption scandals in recent years. 2018 may mark the reversal of a trend toward business-friendly governments in Latin America.

As a result, this special edition of Risk Outlook provides an assessment of developments within the security, trading and investment environments for Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela, as well as commentary on Costa Rica and Paraguay, all of which will experience dynamic political conditions in 2018.
